Sup't Hosford lectured upon the topics of Reading, School Organization and Government, Arithmetic, etc., while Mr. Mayhew treated the subjects of Geography, the Philosophy of Education, the Mental Faculties, etc. There were fifty teachers present, Ugg Classic Tall Boots who listened with much interest, and will doubtless be much benefited by having attended the Institute.Newaygo.-Sup't Hosford opened the Institute at this place on May 4th He was assisted by Prof. Mayhew. Both presented the topics usually given at Institutes, and those who listened were much benefited thereby. Sixty teachers attended the sessions of the Institutes, and will doubtless Ugg Classic Short Boots do better work in the schoolrooms for the little time and expense they have given to better prepare themselves for their work.Summary.-Seven Teachers' Instiutes have been held this spring under the direction of the State Superintendent or Public Instruction, sustained by tiie Act of Legislature voting funds for this purpose. These Institutes have been held four and one-half days each, Moncler employing two or more lecturers at the expense of the fund voted by the Legislature for that purpose, " which sum shall not exceed one hundred dollars for each Institute of five days duration." The whole number of teachers receiving the

instruction of these seven Institutes is about seven hundred, an average of one hundred to each Moncler Jackets Institute.Houghton Institute.-The State Superintendent has called an Institute to be held at Houghton for the benefit of the teachers of the Upper Peninsula. The Institute is to open July 1st, and continue until the close of the week following. Prof. Sidnam, of Houghton, extends a hearty invitation to teachers of the Lower Peninsula, and bids them a cordial welcome to the hospitality of the citizens of Houghton. It will be a pleasant and profitable trip to those who need rest and can afford the means necessary to travel.COUNTY INSTITUTES. BERRIEN COUNTY. Sup't Ford held his third Institute at New Troy, beginning April 20th. Lectures were given by the County Superintendent upon various topics, in eluding Geography, Grammar and Orthography, treating mostly upon methods of teaching them and the use of charts, maps, etc. He also urged the valne of teachers' libraries and the means of getting them. Tory Burch Outlet Prcf. J. Kussell Webb presented the Word Method of teaching reading, much to the benefit and instruction of those present. Prof. R. V. Clark, of New Troy, assisted by lecturing upon Practical and Mental Arithmetic.
